Ibis released a full browser "ibisBrowser DX" on Java MIDP for technology preview

Ibis incorporated (Nagoya, Aichi, Japan) has released the ibisBrowserDX technology preview version. This is a high speed full browser for mobile phones which can run Java applications.

ibisBrowserDX is a client/server type full browser. It works on cellular/mobile phones that can run Java (MIDP 2.0) applications and enables your mobile phone comfortably to surf web sites made for PC's. The ibisBrowserDX servers parse HTML's and translate them into compressed rendering instructions instead of your mobile phone. The beta version and the official versions of ibisBrowserDX in Japanese for DoCoMo FOMA were released in June 2005 and November 2005, respectively.

The special features of the ibisBrowserDX

High speed communication: The ibisBrowserDX is a client/server type browser. Even on the mobile phone with lower memory and slower CPU, it can run comfortably since the ibisBrowserDX servers parse HTML's and translate them into compressed rendering instructions instead of your mobile phone.
High speed drawing: You can scroll the viewing page as you want with mouse-pointer-like controller.
High speed switching over from PC view to mobile view.

Doesn't support movie pictures.

Technology preview

At present ibisBrowserDX supports only several kinds of mobile phones. We hope that the users will make a community in Wiki and post their continuous comments so that we can upgrade the browser according to the customers' need.

Business Model

We are planning the following 4 business models for this product:

Consumers use the ibisBrowserDX for free. We are sponsored by portal sites, shopping sites and so on and we introduce these sites to users through the ibisBrowserDX.
Consumers use the ibisBrowserDX for free. The ibisBrowserDX is preinstalled in mobile phones or distributed on the official web site of mobile phone venders and we get licence fee from the venders.
Consumers use the ibisBrowserDX for pay (about US$3 for a month).
Consumers use the ibisBrowserDX for free. We add advertisement function to the ibisBrowserDX and get advertisement fee.

About ibis incorporated

We are an engineer group specialized to deal with mobile phones. Until now we have released products only for Japanese market. This is the first time we have released a product for the international market.
